Kiwanis President Carol Kelley presents a Kiwanis mug to guest
speaker Jonathan Ward. Ward is with the Midcoast EMS service and
spoke to the group about airway obstructions and how to dislodge
them in infants and young children. An airway obstruction is the
major cause of cardiac arrest in children.

Jackie Harjula (center) became the newest member of the Rockland
Kiwanis Club during a recent meeting. Welcoming Harjula is Sumner
Kinney who also inducted Harjula and Marjorie Kinney who was
Harjula's sponsor.

Rockland Kiwanis President Carol Kelley presents Alex Gaeth
Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters a Kiwanis mug after
Gaeth addressed the group at a recent meeting. Gaeth spoke about the
Midcoast chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters, which was founded 25
years ago, and about the organizations involvement with 144 youth
through its community based and school based programs.

Rockland Kiwanis donates $1,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Bill
Batty, Chair of Rockland Kiwanis Benefactions Committee, presents
Alex Gaeth (center) Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters
of Midcoast Maine, with a check for $1,000.00 as Kiwanis President
Carol Kelley looks on. The Rockland Kiwanis club will be a major
sponsor of the annual Bowl for Kids Sake which takes place March 17
and 18.
